My hair has been carefree and I dig it. I’ve also decided that when I’m getting ready in the morning to just get dressed and stop overthinking. My challenge for the remainder of the year into the coming year is to spend less time getting ready and to just wear the darn thing. I’m what I like to call a “mood dresser”. I usually dress according to my mood in the most appropriate way possible because unfortunately I can’t wear pajamas or a nightgown (or what we Latinas say ” Batas” ) everywhere. I actually thought of this outfit for a while so what am I saving it for exactly? Who knows so I just threw it on. Here it goes. Happy sunday!
It takes me forever to get ready …most of the time. SO I got up early Sunday to actually attempt at styling my hair. I’ve always wanted to try this 3 bun thing and only took me a quick 10 minutes maybe? I just kinda went for it and whooop there it is- went to church and got some compliments so I was feeling myself. SUCCESS! I gotta keep it going, if anyone knows any EASY loc styles please let me know!! ☺
Having my wonderful friend shave my left side and do an undercut was a great idea. It really alleviated some weight and annoying outliers when I would retwist. Sometimes I do miss my baby hairs back there but the retwisting has been that much easier for me. I want to grow it out but I’ll wait another year…
My hair has been so carefree lately, and I dig it. I’ve been wearing head wraps constantly and moisturizing my hair because my dry scalp has always been an issue. I recently purchased a satin bonnet because why not? I needed something to wear when I go to sleep that won’t dry out my hair and I personally trust satin to do the job. I’ve noticed a difference when I wear my cotton scarf as opposed to my satin bonnet and guess what that is??
My scalp is less itchy! I’l be posting my satin bonnets soon!
Until then here are some candid pics courtesy of mi hermano.
I’m just happy my hair looks so big in a headwrap now! GOALS!
For my Dreamers ❤I actually bought this shirt last year from a former classmate who was selling t-shirts like these for dreamers within the school he worked for. His project was to raise enough money for Dreamers to have access to scholarships and further their education. I had to get one, and I loved the font. I thought it was perfect timing given the climate this year and I am down for the cause!
This past weekend I visited West and Central Philadelphia once again for a top secret reason (hint: it’s an annual thang and involves a significant person). Philly is always an enjoyable experience and I was so proud that my hair stayed in tact all the while :). The weather said it was going to be 80 degrees and partly cloudy, it felt like 90+ and not a cloud in the sky! ( what’s the point of weather apps?) Let’s just take a chance when we walk outside sheesh.
Visiting magic gardens was super fun, seeing more than a decade of art beautifully and intricately done was memorable. I’ve always been into mosaic art but lately it’s just been popping up everywhere I turn. I even found a mosaic vase at a yard sale and ended up buying it for $1! – #winning, pretty sure that’s where it started. I hope I find more! The ground, the high walls, the stairs, everything was mosaic in the gardens. I highly suggest visiting Magic Gardens if you’re ever in central Philly, ( and buying tickets online) it’s cheap and something fun to do and be in awe of while visiting. Summer isn’t over yet! Plus they also have tours during non summer months.
I have some cool pics I hope you enjoy! Shout out to my personal photographer, he hasn’t accepted that title as of yet. BTW I’m still using aloe vera gel to re-twist my hair, peppermint soap to wash, tea tree oil, vitamin E oil, and sweet almond oil to keep my scalp and locs moisturized and healthy. This time around I put little Jasmine flowers in my hair. No, that’s not just some stuff from a tree that fell onto my bun 🙂
FYI: I got rid of the mango pomade and edge gel thus far I haven’t needed it. In the meantime I’m on the lookout for a more natural edge gel. Stay tuned!
Hiya! So I’m late posting this but I recently got back from Jacksonville North Carolina and yes I did eat well 😁…took me back to my freshman college days when I gained 7+ lbs…..
Why doesn’t the North East have a Missions bbq joint? I also had no idea there were soo many islands along the coast of N.C! You take a ferry ride to an island, walk to the beach and bam. You’re relaxing on cool, CLEAN sand and enjoying warm water. I had a great few days and hope to go back to explore more soon enough. That being said, since this is technically a hair blog… I am still enjoying letting my hair be and the amount of stress I usually have with keeping my hair prim and proper has decreased tremendously. Even through 4th of July sweat and salt water rinses from the beach. Anytime before last summer I would definitely NOT be ok with just rinsing my hair and letting it air dry how it wants. I think I’ve come a long way. Partly due to getting older, building my confidence and self appreciation. Learning how to feel most comfortable in my skin..and hair!
Oh! Also I finally spelled out love or at least tried my best with sparklers. I always see it on Pinterest in like perfect script or writing but man it’s harder than it looks people! Can’t wait for more adventures!
